Kazakhstan Prepares CryptoCity, Crypto Will Be A Legal Payment Tool
Kazakhstan plans to build CryptoCity, a pilot zone where crypto can be used for daily transactions. President Tokayev announced this at Astana International Forum 2025, as an effort to adopt crypto in a regular environment.
At CryptoCity, crypto will be accepted for payments in restaurants, properties, and investments, paving the way for the blockchain industry. The government hopes that this will attract Information Technology (IT) talent and encourage local economic growth.
This initiative is in line with Kazakhstan's efforts to become a regional crypto center. Previously, they launched a central bank digital currency trial and were trying to relax regulations, and the government also wanted to strengthen the middle class through digital technology and clean energy.
In addition to CryptoCity, Kazakhstan runs a pilot project between banks and crypto exchanges to regulate digital asset trading transparently. This aims to attract investment and make Kazakhstan the main destination for crypto business in Central Asia.
With these steps, Kazakhstan shows its commitment to encourage financial innovation and strengthen its position as a technology and research center in the Eurasia region.
