๐Ÿšจ A container ship carrying hazardous materials has sunk near India. The vessel was managed by a Russian company and had Ukrainians among its crew.

On May 25, a Liberian-flagged container ship sank off the coast of India following severe flooding. The crew, which included Ukrainian nationals, was safely rescued.

India Shipping News reported that the ship was transporting 640 containers, including 13 containing hazardous materials.

With the cargo now submerged, the Indian Coast Guard has declared full readiness to respond to any environmental threat. So far, there have been no reports of an oil spill.

According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, some of the sunken containers held calcium carbide, a chemical commonly used in industry. The ship was also carrying approximately 370 tons of fuel and oil.
