The SEC’s Crypto Working Group recently met with Nasdaq, Plume Network, and Etherealize to explore the possibility of using public blockchains for the issuance and trading of tokenized securities.
Nasdaq presented the "ATS-Digital" project and proposed creating a common legal protection zone between the SEC and CFTC. For its part, Plume Network called for updates to securities laws to keep pace with decentralized finance (DeFi), while Etherealize supported the use of smart contracts and blockchain-based shareholder registries.
The three parties agreed to advocate for the establishment of a Regulatory Sandbox.
