Do you remember how developers and influencers arrogantly belittled people with critical thinking and pompously talked about how these tokens would turn the world of memes upside down?
Do you remember how much marketing, advertising, and communication there was in groups, Twitter, and channels?
And do you remember that WATER even attracted football star Lionel Messi?
(Let me clarify: I haven't invested in any of these or similar projects; I've just been observing the events from a professional standpoint.)
And suddenly, a year has passed — and we can summarize.
1. A fool is not a mammoth — they will never go extinct. Marketing, greed, fantasies, and lack of education have bankrupted many people.
2. In just one year, the number of cryptocurrencies increased from ~3.3 million to ~15.8 million units (according to CoinMarketCap), and according to Forbes — to ~35 million units. Scams are growing at a parabolic rate.
3. People don’t need money — they like emotions. Complaints about deception and suffering are an integral part of emotional pleasure.
4. Don't worry, none of the developers or influencers were harmed. On the contrary — they made a lot of money and have already created a dozen more new tokens.
And I think: was it in vain that I studied marketing for 6 years and defended a master's thesis on consumer psychology of advertising products?
Should I switch to the dark side or stay on the light side of humanity?
(Just kidding. I don't think so. I've long decided: I only engage with useful products.)
What conclusions have you drawn over the past 12 months?
