WalletConnect Expands on Solana with New WCT Token and Airdrop

WalletConnect has taken a big step by launching its native token, WCT, on the Solana blockchain. To celebrate, the platform is airdropping 5 million WCT tokens to active Solana users, aiming to increase adoption and liquidity in this fast-growing ecosystem.

WCT is designed for staking, governance, and future rewards across WalletConnect’s network. With about 145,000 holders already, the token’s reach is set to expand, especially given Solana’s large user base of over 100 million monthly active wallets.

Pedro Gomes, founder of WalletConnect Foundation, emphasized the shift from an Ethereum-focused model to a chain-agnostic approach, making WCT truly multichain. This move is supported by Wormhole’s Non-Transferable Token (NTT) technology, ensuring smooth and secure cross-chain operations.

Following a previous 50 million token airdrop, this Solana launch marks another milestone in WalletConnect’s roadmap toward greater community engagement and multi-chain integration.
