Bill Gates: "Cryptocurrency is Useless... Just a Scam"

Bill Gates is once again speaking out against cryptocurrency and he’s not holding back. At a recent TechCrunch event, the Microsoft co-founder said that crypto and NFTs are “100% based on the greater fool theory.” In simple terms, he believes people are only buying these digital assets because they think someone else will pay more for them later, not because they have real value.

Gates even mocked NFT artwork, like “expensive digital images of monkeys,” and said he prefers investing in things that create value, like farms or businesses. He also raised concerns about crypto’s anonymity, warning it can be used to hide money or avoid taxes.

This isn’t the first time Gates has sounded the alarm. In 2020, his Twitter account was hacked in a Bitcoin scam, which only added to his worries about the crypto world’s security risks.

While Gates hasn’t outright called crypto a scam, his message is clear: it’s risky, it’s unproven, and it’s not for serious investors. As crypto continues to grow, Gates’ words serve as a sharp reminder to think carefully before jumping in.
