The Majority of US Citizens Prefer Investing in Bitcoin Over Gold

River, in its report, revealed that almost 50 million or 14.3% of American citizens own Bitcoin. This number is significantly higher than gold investors, who number only about 36.7 million people.

Until 1971, gold was the main reserve asset of the United States, supporting the value of the US dollar. This precious metal served as a trusted store of value for many citizens of Uncle Sam.

River stated that the role of gold has diminished over time. The precious metal is still the largest investment asset in the world, with a market capitalization of US$22.270 trillion, but Bitcoin has now surpassed gold in terms of ownership among US individuals.

US citizens invest in Bitcoin because this asset is seen as a hedge against value loss. Bitcoin is also regarded as providing financial freedom to its owners, as well as a guarantee for building a safer future.

Not only individually, the US government is also striving to become the world's crypto capital and a pioneer of digital assets to outpace China in financial technology innovation. Earlier this year, the White House officially designated Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset.
