Bitcoin mining has always been a test of endurance: investment, energy, difficulty... and now, with the halving already passed, many are asking: is it still profitable to mine in 2025?

The answer is not so simple. It depends on where, how, and with which miners you are doing it.

⚙️ The impact of the halving

In April 2024, the block reward decreased from 6.25 to 3.125 BTC. This halved the miners' income, forcing many with outdated equipment to shut down their machines or migrate to regions with cheaper electricity.

But it also had a side effect: less selling pressure in the market and more scarcity... which could push the price up in the medium term.

⚡ Where is the profitability?

The most efficient miners have survived by betting on:

Next-generation ASIC equipment (like Antminer S21 or Whatsminer M60).

Renewable energy or energy surpluses (solar, hydroelectric, wasted natural gas).

Countries with subsidies or low energy costs: Paraguay, Argentina, some regions of the U.S., Kazakhstan.

There is also a trend towards institutional mining, where large companies manage crypto data centers on an industrial scale.

♻️ Green mining and regulatory pressure

In 2025, the debate over environmental impact is still alive.

Some governments are pushing to limit energy consumption, while others see it as an opportunity to monetize surpluses.

Many projects are integrating mining with sustainable systems, such as:

Heating buildings with the generated heat.

Stabilization of electrical networks in rural areas.

Incentives to use 'surplus' energy that was previously wasted.

🧠 Conclusion: Is it worth mining?

If you have access to cheap energy, modern equipment, and good infrastructure: yes, it is still viable.

If you do it with obsolete equipment or in places with high rates: it's probably not profitable.

For many, it now makes more sense to invest in mining companies, pools, or tokens linked to hashpower.

Mining is no longer for everyone. But it remains a fundamental part of the Bitcoin ecosystem... and it is evolving faster than ever.
