Foresight News reports that Coinbase disclosed a data breach in December 2024, affecting the personal data of 69,461 users. Coinbase previously noted that this data breach impacted less than 1% of users and compromised 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) information such as names, addresses, and email addresses. The company stated in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that passwords, private keys, and user funds were not affected. Coinbase estimates that this incident could cost approximately $180 million to $400 million in remediation and customer compensation.
