😱😱😱BANK ERRONEOUSLY TRANSFERS 81 TRILLION DOLLARS INSTEAD OF 280 DOLLARS, AND IT REALIZED THIS 90 MINUTES AFTER THE PAYMENT AND THEN CANCELED IT 😱😱😱
A Citigroup client in the USA experienced an unexpected episode when instead of receiving a payment of 280 dollars, their bank account was credited with an astonishing amount of 81 trillion dollars. The error lasted approximately 90 minutes before it was detected and canceled, raising further questions about the internal control systems of the financial institution.
According to information from People magazine, the error went unnoticed by two employees monitoring the transactions until a third employee noticed the anomaly and began to rectify it. The transfer was canceled before the client could use the money, thus avoiding a larger problem for the bank. However, such mistakes continue to raise concerns about Citigroup's ability to prevent critical errors in its financial system.
Recurring errors at Citigroup
This is not the first significant mistake that Citigroup has made in recent years. In 2020, the bank mistakenly transferred 893 million dollars to creditors of cosmetics company Revlon Inc., money that some recipients refused.
