BTG will help Méliuz buy more R$ 150 million in Bitcoin
Méliuz announced this Tuesday (20) that it has chosen BTG Pactual to coordinate a fundraising of R$ 150 million, intended for the purchase of more Bitcoin. The operation reinforces the company's new strategy, which has become Brazil's first Bitcoin Treasury Company.
The initiative follows the model of the American Strategy, led by entrepreneur Michael Saylor and currently the largest holder of BTC on the planet.
According to the company, the investment will be made through a public offering of shares or debt securities. In this regard, BTG Pactual will lead the operation as exclusive coordinator. According to the announcement, the raised amount could be even greater if the company decides to activate an additional lot.
Méliuz shareholders approved the change in the business model during the Extraordinary General Assembly (AGE) held on May 15. Since then, the company has formalized the alteration of its corporate purpose to allow direct investments in Bitcoin (BTC).
In addition, the company's new mission is simple: to increase the amount of Bitcoin per share, for the benefit of its shareholders.
According to the company's statement, “the goal is not only to protect cash against inflation, but to reposition the business as a crypto treasury.” The proposal includes using operational cash and capital market instruments to increase exposure to BTC.
