OpenAI, Major Release!
On May 16th, US time, OpenAI officially released Codex. This is a cloud-based software engineering intelligent agent that can process multiple development tasks simultaneously, assisting developers in efficiently completing programming work. Codex provides an input box and two buttons—Ask and Code. In addition to writing code, it also includes understanding code structure, answering questions about the codebase, and fixing bugs. OpenAI has been using Codex internally for tasks such as code refactoring, test generation, and error fixing.
OpenAI CEO Altman tweeted on platform X, stating that tools like this allow a single person to develop software in exciting quantities. "You can just do things" is one of my favorite memes; I never expected it to be applied so quickly in such an important way to AI itself and its users.
