Recent speculation that holders of the native Cardano token are ineligible for the Midnight Drop elicited a reaction from Charles Hoskinson.
The founder of Cardano responded to a tweet indicating that token holders in the Cardano ecosystem would not receive the highly anticipated release. He quoted the tweet and responded with a video of himself sighing at the rumors.
Midnight airdrop for everyone
While he did not explicitly refute the speculation, his response in the video clearly shows his frustration. Notably, the 'Midnight' airdrop aims to reward legitimate contributions to the Cardano ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Rami, a key contributor to the SNEK meme coin project and a prominent figure in the Cardano ecosystem, responded to Hoskinson's tweet. He suggested that holders of other Cardano-related coins should be equally eligible as ADA holders for the Midnight drop, which aims to reward participation in the ecosystem's welfare.
Nevertheless, Hoskinson previously revealed that token holders on other major chains will also participate. Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, BNB holders, among others, will receive the airdrop.

The Cardano system will witness the upcoming airdrop distributing unique tokens to its holders. Eligible participants will receive NIGHT, the governance token of the Midnight protocol, and DUST, a non-transferable token used for privacy transactions.
Furthermore, over 37 million wallets will participate in the airdrop, also known as the 'Glacier Drop'. The team's choice for a multi-chain airdrop aims to broaden adoption and participation across chains.
In the meantime, the exact date for the airdrop remains uncertain. The Cardano Midnight team stated that the airdrop will occur in 2025, but it has not confirmed the date precisely.
