SuiPlay0X1 is a Web3 gaming handheld device co-developed by Sui and Playtron (game handheld operating system developer), supporting traditional platform games like Steam and Epic, and can switch to Sui chain game mode with one click; the pre-sale device is bound to the 'Eternal' soul-bound NFT, divided into 'Mythic' (the first 1,700) and 'Exalted' tiers, allowing holders of different level NFTs to enjoy airdrop and whitelist qualifications from multiple project parties.
SuiPlay0X1 launched its pre-sale in early September last year and officially sold out 10,000 units by the end of April this year. In May this year, at the SuiBaseCamp 2025 held in Dubai, SuiPlay0X1 was officially showcased and announced to ship this summer.
Ecological airdrop
From the launch of the pre-sale to the final sellout, it was undoubtedly aided by a continuous stream of ecological airdrop news. What ecological airdrops did SuiPlay receive?
First, it should be noted that users who pre-ordered the game console received the soul-bound 'Eternal' NFT through their Playtron account, and the ecological airdrop was also received by that address. Playtron currently holds this address, and the community speculates that it may be transferred to the user's self-custody after the devices are shipped.
I am one of the first 1,700 pre-purchasers and hold the 'Myth' NFT. The Sui address has received the following tokens: including Sui ecosystem Perp DEX Bluefin token BLUE, lending protocol Scallop token SCA, Meme coin HIPPO, etc., with a total value of about $70.
In addition to the 8 certified tokens shown above, SuiPlay NFT holders have also received over 40 unverified tokens (mostly Meme) by the blockchain explorer. Some token airdrops do not cover all NFT holders but adopt a random selection method, such as the Sui Name Service randomly selecting 500 'Myth' NFT holders to airdrop 1,000 NS tokens (currently valued at about $260).
At the same time, some token airdrops are issued in NFT form, requiring subsequent claims. For example, I received an NFT for claiming 113 Walrus tokens WAL, valued at over $70. A similar airdrop method was also used by the entertainment project Double Up on Sui (token: UP).
In addition, some projects have made early airdrop commitments, but the specific airdrops will wait until the project goes live or SuiPlay devices are shipped, such as Fud the Pug, one of the leading Meme coins in the Sui ecosystem.
G Dollar stablecoin
On May 2, 2025, Sui, Playtron, and M0 (stablecoin infrastructure provider) Foundation released the programmable stablecoin G Dollar aimed at gaming scenarios during SuiBaseCamp. This coin is pegged to the US dollar and guaranteed by short-term US Treasury bonds, and can be used for consumption, subscriptions, and reward distribution within handheld devices and other GameOS platforms; its programmable features support fee waivers, instant withdrawals, and new revenue models.
Why are Sui and Playtron working on stablecoins? The official response includes three aspects:
Innovative economic model: Programmable stablecoins and on-chain reward mechanisms empower developers to innovate income sources and facilitate asset flow both in and out of games.
Upgrading player incentives: Through multi-tiered incentives and direct airdrops, attract more players and Web2 game developers to enter the Sui ecosystem, boosting user growth.
Cooperative ecological effects: Multi-project joint airdrops and G Dollar wallet compatibility strategies help integrate on-chain games with cross-platform interactions, further enhancing Sui's competitiveness as a gaming base chain.
Direct participation in the issuance of ecological stablecoins shows Sui's full commitment to the gaming sector.
PLAY token?
Playtron is rumored to be planning the issuance of the PLAY token, which may be additionally airdropped to handheld users. Comparatively, it is equivalent to Solana's Saga phone issuing a token separately, which has no precedent in the industry.
However, Playtron has not yet announced detailed release plans and token economic models, only 'evoking the imagination' on social media accounts. If the PLAY token is ultimately confirmed, it may further activate the ecological economic gameplay through the token, enhancing user stickiness.
