Few will remember, and even fewer will have witnessed firsthand that Ethereum was the protagonist of one of the largest hacks in the history of the crypto ecosystem.

The shock was such that they had to pretend it didn't happen in order to continue operating. Basically, the crypto world feigned ignorance so that the structure wouldn't fall.

The blockchain was compromised and everyone had to agree that this event did not happen. Naturally, this shows the importance of security here.
