BNB (Binance Coin) is the native cryptocurrency of the Binance platform, launched in 2017. Initially, it operated on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20), but later transitioned to its own blockchain, Binance Chain, and Binance Smart Chain (now combined into BNB Chain). BNB is used to pay fees on Binance at a discount, participate in the launch of new projects (Launchpad), staking, and operations in DeFi. It is also accepted for payment of goods and services in various partner networks. Every quarter, Binance burns a portion of the coins to reduce their quantity and support the price.
