The Central Bank of Russia classified Bitcoin as the most profitable investment over the past year, outperforming traditional assets such as gold, stocks, and bonds.
In a recently published analysis, the regulatory body noted that Bitcoin achieved a return of 38% over the past twelve months, thus ranking first among the asset classes it evaluated.
Looking at 2022, Bitcoin's cumulative return reached 121.3%, putting it significantly ahead of gold, stocks, fixed income instruments, and broad indices such as the S&P 500.
However, the bank also pointed out the short-term volatility of major cryptocurrencies, noting a decline in Bitcoin's value of 18.6% between January and April 2025.
This recovery came at a time when broader market indices recorded significant losses, while gold and corporate bonds managed to achieve slight gains.
Since 2022, the value of Bitcoin has risen from trades below $20,000 to an all-time high of around $110,000 this year.
