Big News from the SEC!
On May 12, SEC Chair Paul Atkins announced major plans to reshape crypto regulations in the U.S.
He wants to create clear guidelines for crypto tokens that are considered securities and may allow broker-dealers to handle trading of top cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and
Ether — even though they’re not securities.
Atkins emphasized the need for a solid, fair framework for crypto markets and promised to keep politics out of securities laws.
This move comes as the SEC under new leadership steps back from the strict actions taken during the Biden era, including lawsuits against big platforms like Coinbase and Kraken.
Republican Commissioner Hester Peirce is now leading the SEC's crypto task force, working on setting clearer rules for the industry.
Stay tuned — big changes may be coming for crypto in the U.S.!
