Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng (CZ) suddenly introduced the story of his dog Broccoli, triggering a wave of meme coins named after his beloved pet.
CZ revealed that the story of getting a dog began a year and a half ago when he was chatting with a friend who owns a zoo in Dubai and inquired about dog breeds suitable for the local hot weather. That evening, the friend brought him a young Belgian Malinois, along with a passport.
Zhao Changpeng stated that he wanted to name the dog something that starts with 'B' and has a green connotation, which is why he chose 'Broccoli'. He jokingly added that the name sounds a lot like 'Blockchain', saying, 'After all, I can’t escape cryptocurrency.'
