Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng (CZ) suddenly introduced the story of his dog Broccoli, sparking a wave of meme coins named after his pet.
CZ revealed that the story of adopting a dog began a year and a half ago when he was chatting with a friend who owns a zoo in Dubai and inquired about dog breeds suitable for the local hot weather. That evening, the friend sent him a young Belgian Malinois, complete with a passport.
Zhao Changpeng stated that he wanted to give the dog a name that started with 'B' and had a green connotation, so he chose 'Broccoli'. He joked that the name sounds a lot like 'Blockchain', saying, 'I can't seem to escape cryptocurrency.'
