On May 15, according to a report from Cryptoslate, Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal revealed that scammers had used AI technology to forge his video image, with the aim of deceiving startups in the cryptocurrency sector. Firstly, they hacked the Telegram account of Shreyansh Singh, head of Polygon Ventures, then contacted startups in the ecosystem to lure them into Zoom meetings for investment negotiations. In these meetings, AI images of Nailwal, Singh, and fabricated members (without audio interaction) were used to trick them into installing malicious software development kits.

Nailwal stated that many entrepreneurs have contacted him to verify the accuracy of the meeting. He advised the community not to install unknown software in unwanted contact situations. More importantly, he emphasized the necessity of adhering to regulatory processes and urged cryptocurrency users to separate wallet signing activities from their daily-use devices.

He said, “These attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, so the best practice is to use a separate laptop solely for signing activities through the wallet, and never use this machine for anything unrelated to the wallet.”
