Bhutan: Limited Integration of Digital Currencies in Tourism
In a notable step, Bhutan announced its acceptance of certain digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum in tourism services, including tours and hotels. However, this initiative does not encompass all aspects of tourism, as flight tickets and visas remain payable in US dollars. Despite claims of collaboration with Binance Pay and acceptance of over 100 digital currencies, there is no reliable information supporting this idea. At the same time, Bhutan continues to invest in digital currencies through hydroelectric-powered mining projects.
