On May 14, according to France 24, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced he would hold a meeting with the cryptocurrency industry next Friday. The goal of the meeting is to address kidnappings related to cryptocurrency businesses. This decision was made following an unsuccessful kidnapping attempt on May 13 in Paris, where the daughter and nephew of a French cryptocurrency entrepreneur were attacked by four thugs but fortunately were not seriously injured.
The victim is the daughter of the co-founder and CEO of the French cryptocurrency trading platform, Paymium. In recent years, there have been several kidnapping cases related to cryptocurrency assets in France. Notably, the kidnapping and torture of Ledger co-founder, David Balland, in January of this year.
Mr. Retailleau stated he would collaborate with cryptocurrency entrepreneurs to discuss security measures and raise awareness about risks. He affirmed that criminals would be pursued to the end, 'even if they have fled abroad.'
