【U.S. Adjusts Tariffs Imposed on China】According to a report by Golden Finance, a reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce on the 14th that based on the executive order issued by the U.S. White House on May 12 (to modify the reciprocal tariff rates to reflect the situation of talks with the People's Republic of China), the U.S. side has canceled the total of 91% tariffs imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) at 00:01 AM Eastern Time on May 14, in accordance with Executive Order No. 14259 dated April 8, 2025, and Executive Order No. 14266 dated April 9, 2025. The U.S. also modified the reciprocal tariff measures of 34% imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) under Executive Order No. 14257 dated April 2, 2025, with 24% of the tariffs being suspended for 90 days, retaining the remaining 10% of the tariffs. At the same time, the U.S. has also reduced or canceled the tariffs imposed on small parcels from China (including small parcels from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region), lowering the tax rate on international mail from 120% to 54%, and canceling the measure that was set to increase the quantity tax from $100 to $200 per item starting June 1, 2025. In light of the U.S. side's cancellation, suspension, or adjustment of tariffs imposed on China based on the consensus reached in high-level economic and trade talks between China and the U.S., the Chinese side will accordingly adjust relevant tariffs and non-tariff countermeasures against the U.S. (Xinhua News Agency)
