The U.S. April unadjusted CPI year-on-year recorded 2.3%, lower than the expected value of 2.4% and a decline from the previous value of 2.4%.
The seasonally adjusted CPI month-on-month increased by 0.2%, although higher than the previous value of -0.1%, it still fell short of the market expectation of 0.3%.
Core inflation data shows that the unadjusted core CPI year-on-year remained at 2.8%, consistent with expectations and the previous value; the seasonally adjusted core CPI month-on-month grew by 0.2%, lower than the expected 0.3%, but slightly accelerated from the previous value of 0.1%.
