🔴 Arizona said 'no' to BTC reserves — and tightened control over crypto ATMs
— Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed two bills on bitcoin reserves:
• SB1373 — reserve from confiscated assets
• SB1025 — up to 10% of pension and budget funds in BTC
— The reason for the refusal? 'Too unstable a market.' Sound familiar?
— Instead, Hobbs tightened the rules for crypto ATMs:
• Mandatory fraud warnings
• Receipts with transaction hash and wallet address
• Blockchain analytics for tracking transfers
📉 Arizona is now in the club of 9 states that rejected BTC reserves (along with Florida, Wyoming, and others). So far, New Hampshire is the only one that has actually launched such an initiative.
Historical fact: In 2022, Arizona already tried to recognize bitcoin as legal tender. It didn't work. History repeats itself.
