Top TRUMP whales hold $174 million in tokens before dinner with the U.S. president
"Black Tie attire preferred, but not required," according to the project offering 220 wallet holders the chance to meet the U.S. president after they invest millions in his memecoin.
The list of the largest holders of U.S. President Donald Trump's memecoin has been finalized ahead of background checks for registration to dine and join a "VIP tour" with the president on May 22.
In a post on May 12 on X, the TRUMP memecoin project stated that they would stop considering additional purchases for dinner with the president, further noting that top token holders have been informed they must apply for background checks if they wish to attend.
According to data provided on the project's leaderboard, the top 220 wallets hold over 13.7 million tokens as of May 12, worth approximately $174 million at the time of announcement.
It is unclear whether any of the wallet holders will choose to register and attend dinner with Trump or the "exclusive reception" planned at the White House for the top 25 holders on May 22. A Bloomberg report on May 7 indicated that most token holders are located outside of the U.S., raising potential security and conflict of interest concerns.
Many U.S. lawmakers and figures in the cryptocurrency industry have criticized the president for launching the memecoin just days before his inauguration on January 20.
