Cold Wallet – A crypto film, full of tension and surprise

Directed by Cutter Hodierne and with Steven Soderbergh as executive producer, Cold Wallet is a modern thriller that dives into the world of cryptocurrencies, exploring themes such as technology, greed, and survival.

Soderbergh's influence, known for films like "Traffic" and "Ocean's Eleven," is evident in the brisk narrative and innovative approach of the film, which premiered at SXSW 2024, a festival considered one of the largest technology and innovation events in the world that takes place in Austin, Texas - USA and is already generating buzz.

The film follows Riley (played by Violet McGraw, from "M3GAN"), a young woman working at a cryptocurrency brokerage. When the company is hacked and all the funds are stolen, Riley finds herself at the center of a dangerous plot. She discovers that the key to recovering the money is in a cold wallet (an offline cryptocurrency wallet) hidden in a remote location. While trying to recover the money, Riley is pursued by criminals who are also after the digital treasure.

The film cleverly leverages the theme of cryptocurrencies without falling into clichés or tedious technical explanations. The plot explores issues such as the volatility of the crypto market, digital security, and the risks of relying on decentralized technologies. It is a story that reflects the dilemmas of the digital age, something Soderbergh has already explored in other projects, such as "The Laundromat."

The film is a great pick for suspense fans and for those interested in stories that reflect the challenges of the digital age.
