Has XRP Been Blacklisted By Donald Trump?
On March 2, 2025, President Donald Trump announced on social media that he supports a US “crypto strategic reserve” that will include XRP, Solana, and Cardano. In his statement, he criticized the Biden administration’s handling of crypto and promised to make the US a global crypto leader. However, the post was deleted less than 24 hours later.
According to various reports, Trump was convinced to make this statement by Brian Ballard, a lobbyist with alleged ties to Ripple Labs. Ballard reportedly gave Trump the text for the post. Trump was reportedly furious when he discovered the connection and cut ties with Ballard.
Despite this, there is no official statement or evidence that Trump blacklisted $XRP . The incident is most likely a misunderstanding and personal reaction, not an official policy change.
As is known, Ripple has had ties to some political committees close to Trump. The company's CEO and Legal Director have met with Trump in the past.
After the incident, lawyer Bill Morgan made fun of the issue on the social media platform X, saying, “You are aware of everything. The SEC agreed to reduce the penalty from $125 million to $50 million and also approved the removal of the permanent injunction. Yes, Trump is very angry.”
Trump is likely upset that $XRP was linked to him without his knowledge, but there is no official ban or blacklisting of XRP. The incident highlights the growing influence of crypto lobbyists and the complications that can arise in political affiliations.
