Could XRP be banned?
Recently, the online community has been buzzing about whether Donald Trump may have blacklisted XRP. But what is the truth? On March 2, 2025, President Trump posted on social media supporting the United States' 'strategic cryptocurrency reserves,' which include XRP, Solana, and Cardano. He criticized the Biden administration's cryptocurrency management and promised to make the United States the global cryptocurrency leader. However, less than 24 hours later, the post was deleted.
According to various reports, Trump may have been misled when making this statement by a lobbyist named Brian Ballard, who is said to have provided Trump with the content of the post. Ballard has ties to Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP. Upon learning of this connection, Trump is said to have been very angry and severed ties with Ballard.
However, there is no official statement or evidence showing that Trump has blacklisted XRP or that this digital asset is banned. It appears to be just a misunderstanding and more of a personal reaction than an official policy. In fact, XRP is still active in the cryptocurrency market and is highly regarded by analysts in the current cycle.
To add more drama, lawyer Bill Morgan complained on social media X about the decision of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to reduce the fine from $125 million to $50 million and lift the permanent ban. Morgan humorously remarked, “Trump is very angry.”
Conclusion: Trump may not be pleased with being linked to XRP without fully understanding, but there is no evidence that he has banned or restricted XRP.
