**Ethereum’s 10th Anniversary: A Decade of Decentralization and Innovation**

In July 2025, the Ethereum community marks a historic milestone: the 10th anniversary of the network’s launch. From its genesis block mined on July 30, 2015, Ethereum has evolved from a bold experiment in smart contracts to the backbone of the decentralized web.

Founded by Vitalik Buterin and a team of pioneering developers, Ethereum introduced the concept of a “world computer,” enabling decentralized applications (dApps) to run on a trustless, transparent blockchain. This revolutionary idea gave birth to entire ecosystems—DeFi (Decentralized Finance), NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), and more.

Over the past decade, Ethereum has undergone several major upgrades, most notably "The Merge" in 2022, transitioning from energy-intensive proof-of-work to the eco-friendly proof-of-stake consensus. This shift not only slashed energy consumption by over 99% but also laid the groundwork for future scalability through sharding and Layer 2 solutions.

Today, Ethereum is home to thousands of applications and millions of users around the world. Its native currency, ETH, remains a pillar of the crypto economy. As the network enters its second decade, the focus shifts to further scalability, enhanced privacy, and broader global adoption.

The 10th anniversary is not just a celebration of technology, but a testament to the resilience of an open-source community that continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
