PANews May 10 report, according to Cointelegraph, on-chain detective ZachXBT stated that law enforcement mistakenly detained former Yuga Labs security researcher Sam Curry due to a cyber theft case from 2022, in which approximately $1.1 million worth of BAYC NFTs were stolen. ZachXBT mentioned that he has identified the wallet behind the scam and linked it to a now-deleted X account.
In December 2022, an anonymous attacker stole 14 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, at the time each NFT traded for about $86,000. Law enforcement then 'misread the logs from OpenSea, which contained [Curry]'s home IP address, and incorrectly listed him as a suspect using this address.'
