Beijing has released details of the talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the key topic of which was the situation around Ukraine.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Putin expressed readiness to begin peace talks without preconditions, expressing hope for the conclusion of a "fair and sustainable" agreement. The context points to possible contacts with the Ukrainian side.

Xi Jinping stressed that China advocates a model of "comprehensive, sustainable and collective security", while noting the importance of taking into account the legitimate interests of all countries and eliminating the root causes of conflicts.

Beijing also stated its desire to facilitate the search for a peaceful solution that would be balanced, binding and acceptable to all participants - exclusively by diplomatic means.
