At noon local time on May 8, President Xi Jinping of China and President Putin of Russia jointly met with reporters after talks at the Kremlin in Moscow.

Xi Jinping pointed out that just now, I had in-depth, friendly, and fruitful talks with President Putin, reaching many new important consensuses. We jointly signed a joint statement (on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War, the Great Patriotic War, and the founding of the United Nations, regarding further deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Russia in the new era), witnessing the exchange of multiple cooperation documents by relevant departments from both countries, injecting new momentum into the development of Sino-Russian relations.

Xi Jinping emphasized that Russia is the country I have visited most as President of the People's Republic of China, and this is my eleventh visit to Russia. Tomorrow, I will attend the 80th anniversary celebration of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, marking my return to this grand commemorative event after 10 years. The past decade has been a period of great turmoil and transformation in the international situation, as well as a decade of significant advancement and leap in Sino-Russian relations. We have jointly witnessed the continuous consolidation and deepening of political mutual trust between China and Russia, and the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has grown steadily. In the face of changes in the world, the times, and history, China and Russia must firmly grasp the direction of the bilateral relationship and the trend of human social development, shoulder responsibilities, cooperate comprehensively, and make new and greater contributions to promoting the development and revitalization of both countries and maintaining international fairness and justice.

We must uphold generations of friendship and be true friends forged through trials. 80 years ago, faced with the claws of militarism and Nazism, the military and civilians of China and Russia fought side by side against a common enemy, writing a magnificent and moving historical chapter. The great friendship forged through blood and fire between the two peoples has laid a solid foundation for the high-level development of bilateral relations. Both sides must deepen political mutual trust, strengthen strategic cooperation, and push bilateral relations towards a more mature and resilient future.

We must adhere to mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, becoming good partners in achieving each other's success. From overcoming difficulties during World War II by transporting large amounts of urgently needed supplies to each other, to now reaching record highs in bilateral trade, the 'high-speed train' of Sino-Russian mutually beneficial cooperation has traversed an extraordinary journey. Both sides must continue to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, solidify the material foundation of comprehensive strategic collaboration, and continuously benefit the people of both countries, injecting stronger momentum into global development.

We must uphold fairness and justice and be defenders of the international order. China and Russia, as the main battlegrounds of World War II in Asia and Europe, made decisive contributions to the victory of the world anti-fascist war and laid the foundation for the establishment of the post-war international order. As stable, positive, and progressive forces in the international community, China and Russia must continue to stand firmly together, resolutely safeguarding the international system centered on the United Nations and the international order based on international law, and continuously promoting equal and orderly global multipolarization.

We must work together in harmony and be leaders in global governance. The future and destiny of the world should be jointly controlled by all countries, and the results of global development should be shared by all nations. Both China and Russia, as major world powers and important emerging market countries, bear the noble mission of promoting global governance towards a more just and reasonable direction. The two sides must strengthen cooperation in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, uphold true multilateralism, lead global governance in the right direction, and promote inclusive and equitable economic globalization.

Xi Jinping emphasized that in the face of a complex and intertwined international situation, China and Russia must firmly uphold the spirit of permanent good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and mutually beneficial win-win cooperation, weathering storms together and overcoming mountains and rivers, to comprehensively enhance the height, dimension, and resilience of Sino-Russian relations, injecting more stability into world peace and security, and providing stronger momentum for global development and prosperity. Cai Qi, Wang Yi, and others participated.
