Visa says it has already settled $225 million with stablecoins and aims to reach $1 billion
The company is already operating with $USDC from Circle, and will also launch an AI payment tool.
The payment infrastructure company Visa reported that it has already transacted $225 million with its native settlement in stablecoin (cryptocurrencies pegged to the value of a traditional currency, such as the dollar). The card brand enabled payments in the stablecoin USDC from Circle and aims to reach $1 billion transacted in one to two years.
This operation was created in partnership with the company Bridge from Stripe and serves as a compensation and settlement solution in B2B for issuers and acquirers. "An issuer can settle in stablecoin for Visa regardless of whether they have received payment from the customer in this type of currency. Today, there are already acquirers allowing payment reception in stablecoin. Visa is becoming a liquidity provider for these clients," says Catalina Tobar, head of Crypto at Visa for Latin America.
