Metaplanet increases total holdings to 5,555 BTC, surpassing the halfway mark in its goal of reaching 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025.
Metaplanet, a company specializing in bitcoin asset management in Japan, has just announced that it purchased an additional 555 bitcoin (BTC), raising the total amount of BTC held by the company to 5,555 BTC. This information was announced on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the bitcoin accumulation strategy that the company has implemented since April 2024, after shifting away from its declining hotel business.

Earlier this year, Metaplanet announced the '21 Million Plan' – an ambitious initiative to issue 21 million shares and use all of the raised funds to purchase a total of 21,000 BTC before the end of 2026. To implement this strategy, the company has recruited several influential experts and analysts in the crypto space, such as Eric Trump, Dylan LeClair, and David Bailey.
According to the established roadmap, Metaplanet aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, after which it will continue to purchase an additional 11,000 BTC in 2026 to complete the goal of 21,000 BTC before the end of the following year. With the recently announced transaction of 555 BTC, the company has now surpassed half of its 10,000 BTC target for 2025.
"Five thousand five hundred fifty-five BTC," CEO Simon Gerovich enthusiastically shared on platform X. "In Japanese, the number 5 is pronounced as 'go', so today we shout loudly: 'Go, go, go, go – to the moon and beyond!'"
