Narendra Modi: Now India's water will flow for the benefit of the country
A senior official from the Punjab irrigation department confirmed that India has stopped the supply of water to Pakistan
ANKARA
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amid ongoing disputes with Pakistan, stated that India's water will be used for the benefit of the country.
At one of the events, Modi touched upon the contentious issue of the 'Indus Waters Treaty' against the backdrop of continuing strained relations with Pakistan, reports NDTV.
Noting that there is much discussion in the media on this issue, Modi said: 'In the past, the water that was India's right left the country. Now India's water will flow for the benefit of the country, will be preserved for the benefit of the country, and will be used for the benefit of the country'.
The Prime Minister did not directly mention Pakistan in his speech.
According to the Dawn newspaper, a senior official from the Punjab irrigation department confirmed that India has stopped the supply of water to Pakistan.
