Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amid ongoing disputes with Pakistan, stated that India's water will be used for the benefit of the country.

At one of the events, Modi touched upon the contentious issue of the 'Indus Water Treaty' against the backdrop of continuing strained relations with Pakistan, NDTV reports.

Noting that there is much media discussion on this issue, Modi said: “In the past, the water that was India's right flowed out of the country. Now India's water will flow for the benefit of the country, will be preserved for the benefit of the country, and will be used for the benefit of the country.”
