Trump: I'm not, I didn't! Who let the reporter ask this topic! Which newspaper!

The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the United States responded to reporters' questions regarding the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the United States, stating that both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of China have made their positions clear regarding the talks.

I would like to emphasize the following three points:

1. Recently, the U.S. side has actively conveyed information to the Chinese side through various channels, hoping to discuss issues such as tariffs. The Chinese side decided to agree to engage with the U.S. side after seriously evaluating the information from the U.S. side. The talks were held at the request of the U.S. side.

2. The Chinese side's firm opposition to the U.S. side's arbitrary imposition of tariffs is consistent, and it will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests as well as international fairness and justice, and maintain the rules of the World Trade Organization and the multilateral trading system.

3. This tariff war was initiated by the U.S. side. If the U.S. side truly wishes to resolve issues through dialogue and negotiation, it should stop threatening and pressuring, and engage in dialogue with the Chinese side on the basis of equality, respect, and reciprocity. The Chinese side will never accept the U.S. side's double standards, nor will it sacrifice its principled stance or international fairness and justice to seek any agreement.
