Ethereum developers have successfully activated the Pectra update on the mainnet, marking the largest network update since the historic merge of 2022.
The activation occurred at epoch 364032, around 6:05 a.m. ET.
📌 11 Key EIPs: #pectra introduces eleven code changes aimed at significantly improving staking efficiency, user experience (UX), validator operations, and scalability of Layer 2 solutions.
📌 Rigorous Testing: The update was implemented after exhaustive testing on the Holesky, Sepolia, and Hoodi test networks, overcoming initial setup challenges.
📌 Based on Dencun: Pectra is built on the foundation of the recent Dencun update from March 2024, which introduced proto-danksharding through EIP-4844.
📌 Triple Goals: The main goals of Pectra are to fix existing inefficiencies in the network, enhance the overall user experience, and lay the technical groundwork for future crucial updates like Fusaka, which will incorporate Verkle Trees and PeerDAS for even greater scalability.
