Recently, the European Parliament passed the 'MEME Act' (officially known as the 'Media Freedom Act'), which has attracted significant attention from the crypto community. Although the intention of this act is to combat misinformation and media manipulation, some ambiguous clauses may impact the blockchain sector, particularly decentralized content platforms and crypto communities. If platforms are required to be responsible for user content, MEME-type projects and on-chain creative freedom may be restricted. This not only challenges freedom of speech in Web3 but could also affect the legality and dissemination of certain crypto assets. We should closely monitor its subsequent implementation to uphold the openness and innovation of the crypto world.
