BHUTAN WELCOMES WORLD’S FIRST CRYPTO TOURISM PAYMENT SYSTEM WITH BINANCE PAY

- Bhutan, famous for its Gross National Happiness philosophy, launched the world’s first national crypto tourism payment system.

- In partnership with Binance Pay and DK Bank, this system allows tourists to pay for virtually every aspect of their journey in Bhutan using cryptocurrencies.

“We are excited to partner with Bhutan as we are not only advancing the use of cryptocurrencies in travel, but also setting a precedent for how technology can bridge cultures and economies,” said Richard Teng, CEO of Binance.

How It Works:

- Over 100 local merchants are now equipped to accept payments via Binance Pay, including hotels, airlines, tour guides, and even roadside fruit stands.

- Tourists with Binance accounts can use over 100 cryptocurrencies—like BTC, BNB, and USDC—via secure QR codes.

- All transactions are settled in Bhutanese Ngultrum through DK Bank, eliminating currency exchange issues and high fees.

For Local Businesses:

- Small vendors and remote artisans in Bhutan now have access to global payment processing through their smartphones.

- A simple QR code allows them to accept cryptocurrency payments, providing a boost to rural economies.

“This is more than a payment solution – it’s a commitment to innovation, inclusion, and convenience,” Damcho Rinzin, Bhutan’s tourism director, said.
