BSF to get 16 new battalions, 2 field HQs for Pakistan, Bangladesh borders
The Border Security Force (BSF) is poised to receive final approval from the government to expand its strength with the addition of 16 new battalions, official sources have confirmed. This expansion will bring in approximately 17,000 new personnel. The proposal also includes the establishment of two new forward headquarters — one each for the western and eastern commands. These headquarters will enhance the BSF’s operational capabilities along the sensitive borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. The move is aimed at strengthening border management, improving response time, and bolstering national security. Once approved, the recruitment and infrastructure development processes are expected to begin promptly under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
