The European Union (EU) is taking another step in its efforts to control the digital asset sector by preparing to implement a comprehensive anti-money laundering regulation (AMLR), focusing on an outright ban on privacy-enhancing tokens — also known as "privacy coins" — including prominent coins like Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC). In addition, anonymous crypto accounts will also be absolutely banned starting in 2027.
