#AirdropSafetyGuide How to Stay Safe While Farming with Airdrops: Crucial Security Information

A frequently asked question when farming airdrops is how to maintain security while interacting with multiple chains and dapps. The following guide shows how I keep myself safe:

1- Have a secondary crypto wallet

When farming airdrops, it is preferable to use a secondary wallet.

Personally, I use TrustWallet to store most of my cryptocurrency investments. I transferred some ETH to MetaMask and started using that wallet to farm airdrops.

This ensures that if something goes wrong, most of your funds are not at risk.

2- Disconnect dapps from your wallet.

If you interact with a large number of dapps, it may be a good idea to disconnect them from your wallet. With MetaMask, it is quite easy. Here’s a link to a page that explains the process in simple steps: Disconnecting your wallet from a dapp.

3- Revocation of approvals

Disconnecting may not be enough to eliminate the security risks associated with using dapps. In fact, if you approved a spending limit in your wallet (if you have read tips about the blockchain in this sub, you know what I’m talking about), dapps can access and transfer tokens from your wallet on your behalf.

If you wish to avoid the security risks associated with interacting with a large volume of dapps, it is recommended to revoke these approvals once you have finished using the service. Here is another link from MetaMask support that explains everything in detail: How to revoke smart contract authorizations/token approvals.
