Apple relaxes cryptocurrency app rules, 'very optimistic' for the cryptocurrency industry

A cryptocurrency commentator stated that the court's ruling "really has a significant impact on cryptocurrency," as iOS apps will no longer have to bear high fees for in-app purchases.

Cryptocurrency app developers can now freely direct users to external payments outside of Apple's ecosystem without restrictions or high fees, after a U.S. district judge ruled that Apple violated an injunction in the antitrust legal battle with Epic Games.

“The court finds that Apple intentionally violated this Court's 2021 Injunction, issued to limit and prohibit anti-competitive conduct and anti-competitive pricing by Apple. Apple’s ongoing efforts to interfere with competition will not be tolerated,” U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers stated in court filings on April 30.

Apple must implement changes “effective immediately”

Rogers added: "Effective immediately, Apple will no longer impede developers' ability to communicate with users, nor will it tax or impose new commission rates on in-app purchases."

Rogers emphasized, “This is an injunction, not a negotiation. There is no way to redo it when one party intentionally ignores the court’s order. Time is of the essence.” #Apple
