Odaily Planet Daily reports that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published an article (Simplifying the L1), in which he pointed out that one of Bitcoin's greatest advantages is its protocol's simplicity. Historically, Ethereum has often failed to achieve this (sometimes due to personal considerations), leading to excessive development expenditure, various security risks, and an isolated R&D culture. Vitalik hopes that in five years, Ethereum will become as simple as Bitcoin, including: simplifying the consensus layer, simplifying the execution layer, a backward compatibility strategy for VM transitions, and simplification through shared protocol components. Vitalik summarized that simplicity is similar to decentralization in many ways; both are upstream of resilience goals, and their benefits will become increasingly evident over time — Bitcoin itself is a great example. Vitalik suggested setting a clear maximum line of code target for Ethereum's long-term specification to bring Ethereum's consensus critical code closer to Bitcoin's level of simplicity.
