The Commission on Municipal Affairs (CAM) of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (ALRS) met last Tuesday (29) to vote on the bill that places Rolante as the State Capital of Bitcoin.
Eight state deputies participated in the vote in the CAM, who unanimously approved the report on the bill, read by the rapporteur Deputy Paparico Bacchi (PL-RS).
The processing took place in a conclusive manner, that is, it goes to the promulgation by the Presidency of the Parliament, without the need for approval in plenary.
In addition, the deputies present praised the report that explained in detail the potential for bitcoin adoption in Rolante's local commerce. This is because, with more than 500 CNPJs accepting bitcoin as a means of payment, the inland city surpasses the capital Porto Alegre (RS), and even São Paulo (SP), the largest in Brazil, in terms of acceptance of innovation.

Brazil knows the first state capital of bitcoin defined by legislation: Rolante
The adoption of bitcoin in Rolante's commerce is one of the largest in the world, as reported by Livecoins in 2024. Thus, the formal recognition with the new title of State Capital of Bitcoin is just a detail, for a story rich in innovation.
In any case, Rolante becomes the first State Capital of Bitcoin in Brazil, showing that its impact is currently the greatest in the country.
The bill 63/2024, presented by Deputy Delegate Nadine (PSDB), arrived in the parliament in September 2024. That is, its approval did not take long to occur, showing the commitment of the state deputies of Rio Grande do Sul in approving the PL.
In a statement, the deputy expressed happiness at seeing her project approved. "It is a reality that needs to be valued. Rolante shows that it is possible to think differently and innovate even outside the major economic hubs," said the parliamentarian.

Deputies praised the proposal and the founder of BitcoinÉAqui sees the approval positively: "more security to advance with the dream we are living"
One of the parliamentarians who voted in favor of the approval of Rolante's project was State Deputy Airton Lima (PL-RS). In his vote, he stated that the rapporteur presented in detail the reality of the bitcoin city, convincing him to vote in favor. "Look, after reading this report you convinced me to vote in favor, congratulations," said the parliamentarian.
Livecoins spoke with one of the founders of the project, Ricardo Stim, who views this type of advancement positively, where the public power recognizes bitcoin as something official, that has no problems, that is within the rules.
He recalls that the BitcoinÉAqui project has no direct relation to the approval of the law, but that politicians from Rolante recognized the importance of the movement and requested its approval.
"I am very happy with the approval, we are just waiting for publication in the Official Diary and then we want to move on to the next step, which is to make Rolante the National Capital of Bitcoin. And this opens space to work with bitcoin with more security. So bitcoin is for everyone, and if it's for everyone, the political part has to be together, and if the political part has to be together, let it be in the best possible way, that's how I think," said Ricardo to the report.
The site BitcoinÉAqui shows a list of establishments that already accept bitcoin as a means of payment, ranging from gyms, crafts, and fashion, to local inns and barbecue restaurants.
The CAM meeting that determined the advancement is available on the TVALRS channel on YouTube.
