The chief trade negotiator of the European Union suggested that the EU could resolve the trade dispute with the US by purchasing American goods worth 50 billion euros, such as gas and soybeans.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič expressed the opinion that the EU is not ready to accept the basic 10% US tariff on European imports as a long-term solution to the trade issue.

Instead, the bloc could address US concerns by buying more American goods, thereby balancing the trade imbalance between the two economies. Šefčovič noted that his team is making progress in negotiations with their counterparts in Washington.
