In an unprecedented wave of collapses, the GeckoTerminal platform revealed the failure of over 3.7 million cryptocurrencies since 2021, nearly half of which occurred in 2024 and early 2025. This explosion is attributed to the Pump.fun platform, which facilitated the creation of low-quality 'meme coins', leading to a flood of failed projects.
The first quarter of 2025 alone witnessed the disappearance of 1.8 million tokens, equivalent to about 50% of the total tokens that collapsed over five years. Experts warn that this phenomenon reflects the danger of rapid-launch tools that lack oversight or real evaluation of projects.
